Are you pregnant or did you recently give birth? Are you feeling overwhelmed, depressed, crying for no reason, struggling to bond with your baby, withdrawing from friends and family, and/or having panic attacks or intrusive thoughts? We understand that being pregnant and having a new baby can be an unbelievably difficult time. We understand that not all pregnancies and births go as planned and that dealing with the aftermath can feel impossible.

Many of these experiences are common in new mothers who have postpartum depression. In fact, it is estimated that the symptoms of postpartum depression affect up to 20% of new mothers. Some features of postpartum depression include:

-
Intense irritability and/or anger outbursts.
-
Struggling to emotionally connect with your child.
-
An overwhelming feeling of exhaustion and disrupted sleep patterns.
-
An extraordinary fear of not being a good mother.
-
Anxiety, panic attacks, and a very low mood.
-
Severe mood swings.

The good news is that there are many effective psychotherapeutic treatment methods for mothers living with postpartum depression. Some initial areas to work through with a trained therapist is monitoring your mood, finding ways to modify and stabilize your mood, sharing your distressing thoughts and feelings with, and having a safe place to talk about difficult situations.
